Engineer and driver Mark Donohue dominated the 1971 Trans-Am championship, winning 7 out of 10 races that year. The team of Donohue and owner Roger Penske brought a new level of technical excellence and preparation to professional racing in the late 1960’s and 70’s, competing not only in Trans Am, but also endurance racing, Indy cars, Can Am, and Formula 1. Tragically, Donahue was killed in practice for the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1975. He remains a racing legend.
