Brabham BT46B Big Fan Poster
The BT46B was Brabham Team's answer to the domination of the Lotus ground effects machines for the 1978 Formula One season. Designer Gordon Murray placed a huge fan at the back and sealed the entire bottom of the car, creating a vacuum which sucked the car to the ground, dramatically increasing cornering speed. Niki Lauda drove it to an easy victory in the 1978 Swedish Grand Prix at Anderstorp. Murray claimed the fan was there to cool the engine, but rival teams objected, and the FIA banned the "fan car" after its victorious debut.
